If it is feasible, I think it would be a good idea to change the serial number from a UInt16 to a UInt64. That way the serial numbers supplied by ShareIt could go directly into the key generator. |

The problem with this is it would increase the length of the key. We've made every effort to ensure that keys are still manageable by a human while remaining secure. A 64 bit serial number would require an extra 3 bytes - which translates to an extra 6 hexadecimal characters for the user to type.
Actually its not quite this simple because the encryption algorithm encodes in blocks of 8 bytes - meaning that keys are 32, 48, 64 etc hex characters long. The extra 3 bytes may mean you have to use a 48 character key (depending on the length of product info included in the key). _________________ Infralution Support |
