I currently offer perpetual licenses of my product, and I will now implement annual subscription licenses. I use ILS 5.11.2.
The FAQ http://www.infralution.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1950 says "set the Expiry Date option in the Key Generation tab of the Product dialog". This means to create a new product with this setting, so I will end up with two products. However, you can set the expiry date directly in the Authenticated License Data dialog, so I'm confused. Do I really need to create a new product for this? |

Setting the Expiry Date in the KeyGeneration tab for a product lets you set a policy that applies to all keys generated. For instance for subscriptions you might set the ExpiryDate to 32 days after the key is generated. When the customer pays the next installment of the subscription your then update expiry date (either manually or automatically if you are using IPN.NET).
You can set the expiry date individually for each key if you want.
You don't need to create a new product either way since you can change the Key Generation parameters at any time. You can also create Product Variants that inherit the basic license parameters of the parent product but have different key generation and IPN.NET properties.
You should probably consider upgrading to Version 6 of ILS as there have been quite a few improvements since Version 5 (if you are using IPN.NET you would need to upgrade it to Version 4). _________________ Infralution Support |
